We offer studies leading the status of Certified Professional Chaplain.
Graduates of this certificate program typically serve in ministries as divers
as church chaplains, hospital chaplains, and Hospice chaplains.
CPE training available.   Chaplaincy professional education is
a concept that actually dates back to the 1800's.  The concept is
that individual make more effective chaplains if they serve an
internship in their chosen field. You may certainly receive
Certified Professional Chaplain certification at Saint James
through our distance learning Fast-Track program.  However, you should
know that some potential employers, particularly Hospice, require CPE
units in addition to your certification.  We are happy to work with you to earn
these units if you need them.

Chaplaincy is perhaps the fastest growing counseling-related or spiritual
ministry today.
Pastoral Counseling training is available to ministers, priests, rabbis,
sisters, social workers, psychologists, spiritual counselors, psychiatric
nurses, funeral directors, crisis counselors, counselors dealing with
women's issues, police/fire/EMS professionals, substance abuse
counselors and similar fields.  This certificate program provides unique
insight into practical counseling techniques.  Students will also learn the
importance of providing important assistance to clients' family members
when appropriate.  Spiritual practice do's and don't will also be explored.


Ordination studies are an important aspect of our seminary training.  After
a period of years during which few people entered ministry, this trend has
been completely reversed.  Saint James College Seminary accepts both
men and women students who have been called to serve as ministers and
priests.  We are an interfaith, non-denominational, seminary.  Our students
come from many well-known religious denominations as well as smaller
independent churches.  Our ordination is in the line of Peter.
